Definitely One of Elly's Favorite People

Since she learned to talk, this name has been said in our house more than any other besides Mommy and Dada. There's no question about it. Elly loves Jesus. It's funny because, Brandon and I didn't spend hours on end trying to teach her this name. She just sort of picked it up on her own. We have one painting of him in our front hall that she says "hi" to each time we pass. We have a few DVDs with him on the cover that she loves to hold and walk around with. She recognizes him anytime she sees him, even in a picture she hasn't seen before. A few months ago, we were at a friend's house who has a small, white, ceramic statue of him in her living room. I am sure she had never seen it before, but when Elly looked at it- she plainly said "Jesus".

Brandon and I have made a concerted effort to read scriptures in the morning at breakfast time before he leaves for work and Elly, of course, noticed that she was the only one without scriptures. This resulted in several emotional requests for a "Jesus Book" of her own. She now has her own "scriptures" which consist of a paperback copy of the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price...and a small Personal Progress book from when I was an advisor in Young Women.

We are amazed at this adoration and are curious to see how it develops.

That's so cute. Little Lincoln loves pictures of Jesus too. :) I love how kids are drawn to Him. She's adorable.

Way to go missionary mom:) Now you better watch out for what else you say when you think she's not understanding :)

Okay, that is so cute! Contrast that with on of my nephews. At their house they have a picture of President Hinckley at at BYU football game and he is wearing a hat. You ask him who it is and he will say, "A cowboy."

Darling. I'm amazed by this, too. Mostly, by how Jesus seems to be so recognizable in all of his different representations. Gabby has been able to recognize him for many months, but sadly, can only say SS-SS. Sounds like Jesus, right?
