Elly just learned how to pump on the swings. We've been working on it here and there for a while, and then it just kind of clicked. Now she's awesome at it. (Excuse the low quality photo and video. Both were taken with my phone).
While she was swinging, she yelled out, "Woo-hoo! Lucky Chaaaarrrms!"

Elly Quotes
Lacy: We're going to a nice dinner, so you need to behave. OK?
Elly: OK.
(later, after dinner)
Elly: Mom, I was soooo have (pronounced like "brave" or "save").
Lacy: Huh? Have?
Elly: Yeah, you said I needed to "be have".
(Hey, it makes sense, right? We often tell her to "be good" and "be nice", and she tells us she was "so good" and "so nice". So why not, "be have"?)

Elly Quotes
Elly: "Mom, I had two graham crackers at the park and two at home. That makes four."
(What the what? She's only 3-and-a-half! How did she learn addition? My guess: tons of Sesame Street.)

8 years!
2 children, 3 college degrees, 3 cars, 1 scooter, 2 houses, 9 moves and so much more in 8 years of marriage. It's been better than I could have ever imagined. Happy Anniversary to us, Bran!
Random Old Guy Quotes
Today I was walking with both kids in the jogging stroller. An older gentleman and his wife walked out of a building to their car right by me. They both stopped to admire, I assume, the children.
Old guy to me: "Well, who are your friends?"
Me (looking around and behind me for a second): "Uh, just my kids."
Old guy: "Alright then."
Then, they got in their car and I kept walking.
I guess my kids are my friends. I hang out with them more than anyone else!

Killers Concert
Lacy and I got to go to a private Killers Concert (corporate gig) recently. It was awesome because the venue was small and we were super close. They were amazing!
The video is bad because it was so dark and I wasn't technically actually supposed to be filming anything, but it gives you a little taste.
Canyonlands Half Marathon in Moab
I've never been a runner. I used to hate it. But I signed up with friends to run the Canyonlands Half Marathon (13.1 miles) in Moab back in March, so I had to start training. It turns out that you get an odd pleasure from distance running (jogging, in my case). We had a great time spending time in Moab with friends, and I did pretty well - 1:53:55 (8:41 pace) - considering it was my first race/run of ANY kind ever.
The course was beautiful. We ran along the Colorado River most of the way.

Elly Quotes
Some of you know that Elly used to be pretty obsessed with Beauty & The Beast. When she'd play, she was always Belle, and I had to be Gaston (for a long time she thought he was the good guy, because there's a whole song about how great he is!).
Now she's obsessed with a new princess movie - The Swan Princess. Of course, she's Princess Odette, and I'm Prince Derek.
Elly: Dad, Odette has yellow hair and Derek has brown hair.
Brandon: That's right.
Elly: But your hair's not brown. You need to make it brown, then you can be Derek.
I guess I need to pick up some Just for Men...

Karaoke
We went to Pirate Island the other night for the kids. It turns out there's something for the adults too - Karaoke! I'm not a country fan, but I couldn't pass up singing "Friends in Low Places" with a bunch of my buddies. The best part is that we're singing about whiskey and beer, and none of us drinks! Good times.
